Frequently Asked Questions
What should I expect at my first appointment?
Your first visit will involve a complete nutritional assessment and will include a discussion on your goals and a plan of action. Certain measurements may be taken such as weight, body fat percentage, and waist circumference depending on your unique goals. It’s helpful if you bring a copy of your most recent laboratory tests and a list of medications and/or dietary supplements you are currently taking.
I want to lose weight. How much weight should I expect to lose in your program?
In the beginning of any weight reduction program, you can expect a higher amount of weight loss due to initial water excretion. After 2-3 weeks, the average rate of weight loss is between ½ - 2 pounds per week. This is considered a safe rate of weight loss in the professional community. Weight loss beyond 2 pounds per week usually indicates a loss of other tissue besides fat (i.e. muscle) and is therefore not desirable.
How often will I need to follow up?
Old habits are often difficult to break coupled with the fact that life’s challenges seem to evoke old behaviors. For this reason, we find that clients generally need at least 3-10+ follow up sessions to address questions, monitor progress, and confront any obstacles.
